Santa Caterina dello Ionio

Forty years after the fire that devastated part of the village of Santa Caterina dello Ionio, Laura Veschi’s photographic exhibition was inaugurated as a symbolic opening towards the future — for the Calabrian town and for those who courageously decided to continue living in its historic center.

The exhibition narrates the fire through images of abandoned buildings contrasted with portraits of the inhabitants who chose to remain in Santa Caterina. “Resilient Souls” is the title of the exhibition, playing on the dual meaning of “resisting” and “existing.”
